Whats unbelievable is that you say this is sooooooo important and worth it, but you don't tell me how. How is this that beneficial to the world that the money and time was better spent on it than trying to find a cure for some of those pesky disease out there which probably killed hundreds of thousand of ppl while they were doing this [censored].
i just gave the reasons...
if you took all the money in the world and threw it at a disease it is not going to make the cure fall in your lap...it's not like God is sittin there saying "well, theyve put forth 2.6 billion on finding a cure for cancer, but i'm gonna hold out for 3.7"
the money comes from people who obviously see the benefit of this study, people with the intellectual capacity far greater than an 17/18-yr-old Burton Raider
if you're going to follow your own logic (which is incredibly flawed) then are you willing to not attend any sporting events in order to be able to give that money to cure a disease? are you willing to admit then that sports, in the grand scheme of things, are not nearly as important as finding the cure for lots of diseases?? where does your logic of "what's important and what isn't" begin and end...this study will affect far more characteristics about life than any high school football game ever will, but that's surely not something you would admit to
don't try to turn down your nose on a project like this that you know less than nothing about, when you do the very thing you are condemning the study for on a daily basis

IMO, projects like this and NASA are huge wastes of money...when either pays dividends in excess of their costs, I'll change my tune...but neither will.
